Investment Castings
Investment casting, also known as lost-wax casting, is a precision manufacturing process that begins with the creation of wax patterns. These patterns are then coated with ceramic material to form a mold. The process involves the following steps:
- Wax pattern creation
- Dipping the patterns in ceramic slurry and sand to build up layers
- Melting out the wax, leaving a hollow ceramic shell
- Pouring molten metal into the ceramic mold
This versatile method can be used with a wide range of metals, including stainless steel, aluminum, cobalt, carbon steel, brass, bronze, and various other alloys.
